Addraya joined Kenya Ports Authority in July 2012 as the Head of Contracts and Conveyancing. In this capacity, she was the principal assistant to the Head of the Division in the management of legal affairs of the Authority before assuming her current role in February 2016. Ms. Dena is a trained lawyer by profession having attained a Bachelor of Law (Hons) Degree from the University of Nairobi (UON) and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law which led to her admission to the bar on 7th March 1996.

 
She joined Kanyi Juma & Co. Advocates as a Legal Assistant where she was in charge of preparing pleadings, Legal Research & Civil Litigation among other duties. Addraya later served as the Head of Branch Office, Mombasa Office at Kituo cha Sheria which is a legal advisory center in Kenya. Her duties included legal advise & research, preparing pleadings, education & awareness & advocacy. She then joined the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) where she served in various capacities that included Programs Manager, Land Law Reform Program where she worked closely with Kenya’s development partners such as USAID to provide funding for the Program which led to recommendations that were incorporated in the Ndung’u Report on irregularly allocated land in Kenya; Program Officer, Continuing Legal Education Program (CLE)  tasked with ensuring provision of continued professional development to legal practitioners countrywide through educative forums; Program Director, Compliance & Ethics where she was in charge of practice licensing & regulatory compliance to members of the Legal fraternity. From 2009 to 2012, Water Resources Management Authority (WRMA) absorbed her as Chief Legal Officer to be in charge of Technical, Finance & Administration matters.


She is a Member of various professional bodies such as the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA) and the East African Law Society (EALS).   Her other relevant skills include practical knowledge of information technology especially MS applications, Auditing, Project Management, Community Mobilization, Training, Governance, Research & Gender Responsive Advocacy.   
Addraya is married with three (3) children.
